How much does it cost to send a parcel by plane?

The cost of sending a parcel by plane depends on more than weight and distance. The route, departure date, dimensions, the nature of the contents and the way it is handed over all matter. If you plan to send a small item with a passenger already flying to your city, the price is usually discussed individually. On JetJoin you can find a suitable flight and offer the traveler a reward for delivery. It is not a fixed airline tariff and not a guarantee that any item will be accepted.

What makes up the cost of sending a parcel

The first factor is the route. A popular route may have more travelers and more date options, while finding the right person for a rare flight takes longer. The second is weight and volume: a compact envelope with permitted documents and a box with a large item take up different space in luggage. The third is urgency. If the parcel must arrive by a certain date, the choice of flights narrows.

The meeting arrangements matter too: where the sender hands over the item, who meets the passenger on arrival and whether an extra trip is needed. Discuss these details before agreeing on the request. Separately, consider possible customs charges and other costs that shouldn’t be mixed up with the passenger’s reward.

How the price is calculated on JetJoin

On JetJoin the traveler posts a flight and states the available luggage weight. The sender chooses a suitable route and offers an amount for a specific parcel. The traveler decides whether to accept the offer. So the cost is set for each agreed request, not automatically from the desired total for all the luggage.

For example, a passenger is flying from Almaty to Dubai and is willing to consider items with a total weight of up to 10 kg. A sender needs to send a 2 kg box and offers a reward of 30,000 ₸. If the passenger agrees, it is the 30,000 ₸ that becomes the basis for calculating fees, not a notional price for all 10 kg.

Under JetJoin’s fees, a 15% platform fee of 4,500 ₸ is added to the agreed 30,000 ₸ for the sender, so the sender pays 34,500 ₸ in total. 10% (3,000 ₸) is withheld from the traveler’s reward, so the traveler receives 27,000 ₸. The minimum delivery price is 10,000 ₸, and current fees are always available in the app under “Payment method” → “Fees”.

Why there is no single price per kilogram

A “so much per 1 kg” formula looks convenient, but for sending with a fellow traveler it can be misleading. Two parcels of the same weight can differ in size, packaging, import rules and how hard they are to hand over. The passenger may also be limited by hand luggage rather than checked baggage. So a preliminary price is best used as a guide, and the final one confirmed in the request.

JetJoin is not an air carrier with a single price list. The platform helps the parties find each other and agree on carrying a permitted item on an existing flight.

How to send a parcel without unexpected costs

Start with the exact route and date. State the weight, dimensions, a description of the contents and the amount you want to offer. Browse available flights, choose a suitable passenger and agree where the handover will take place. Before paying, agree on the total, the fees, how delivery is confirmed and what happens if the flight is cancelled. Don’t hand over an item if the passenger doesn’t know what is inside, or if the airline’s or destination country’s rules prohibit carrying it.

If there is no suitable flight yet, you can use new-flight notifications if this feature is available in the app. Don’t count on delivery by a specific hour: delays, cancellations and border control can change the timing.

Find a flight and offer your price

Instead of searching for an abstract “cheapest delivery”, it is easier to compare real options on your route. On JetJoin the sender can find a traveler, offer an amount for their parcel and agree on terms directly in the service. Enter the route, date and item details — that makes it easier to see whether the flight suits you and what reward is reasonable for both sides.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to send a parcel by plane with a passenger?

There is no single price: the sender offers a reward, and the traveler accepts it or discusses a different amount. Platform fees are calculated separately.

Can the cost be calculated by weight?

Weight matters, but the final price also depends on the route, dimensions, date and handover terms. A per-kilogram guide doesn’t replace the agreed price of the request.

Are customs charges included in the price?

Not necessarily. Duties, declarations and other mandatory costs depend on the country, value and nature of the item; they need to be checked separately.

Can I send a parcel urgently?

You can look for a passenger on the nearest suitable flight, but actual availability and delivery time are not guaranteed.

Who chooses the delivery price on JetJoin?

The sender offers a reward for the specific request, and the traveler decides whether to accept the terms.
