Instead of messaging in random groups, the sender sees published flights, chooses a suitable route and offers the traveler carriage terms. The decision to accept the request stays with the passenger.
How parcel delivery with fellow travelers works
On JetJoin the traveler first posts details of an upcoming flight: departure and arrival cities, the date and the available weight in checked or hand luggage. Senders find this flight and offer to have a specific parcel delivered for an agreed reward.
This is not automatic order allocation. The traveler personally reviews requests, clarifies the contents, discusses the price and chooses the offers that suit them. When the free allowance runs out, they can stop accepting requests.
How to find a fellow traveler to send a parcel
Choose the route and date
Specify where the item needs to be sent from and which city the recipient is in. If your date is flexible, consider several upcoming flights: it widens the choice of suitable offers.
Review published flights
Compare departure and arrival dates, available weight, luggage type and traveler details. Check that the flight conditions really allow your parcel to be carried.
Offer delivery terms
Describe the contents, size and weight of the parcel and state the reward you offer. The traveler may agree, suggest another price or decline.
Arrange handover and pickup
Before the request is confirmed, agree on the meeting place and time, the recipient’s details and how delivery will be confirmed. Discuss in advance what happens if the flight is delayed or changed.
Who chooses the parcels to carry
On JetJoin the traveler is the one who chooses. For example, a passenger is flying from Almaty to Istanbul with 8 kg free. One sender offers documents, another a 2 kg box, a third 3 kg of personal items. The traveler evaluates each request and decides which to accept.
The number of offers does not oblige the passenger to carry everything. What matters is the consent of both sides, permitted contents, real luggage limits and the airline’s rules.
How much does it cost to send a parcel with a fellow traveler
There is no single rate for all routes. The sender offers a price for a specific parcel, and the traveler accepts it or negotiates. The price may depend on the route, weight, dimensions, travel date and handover details.
If a traveler names a desired amount for all their free weight, it does not mean every sender has to pay for the whole allowance. The price of each accepted request is agreed separately; before paying, the user sees the total amount and applicable platform fees.
What items can be handed to a traveler
Documents, clothes, gifts and other permitted items may be considered for carriage. But whether they are allowed depends on the specific contents, the airline’s requirements and the laws of the departure and arrival countries.
Don’t hand over sealed items with unknown contents. The sender must describe the items honestly, and the traveler must check the applicable restrictions, including the rules for batteries, liquids, medicines and goods that need to be declared.
If there is no suitable flight yet
Your route may not be listed yet, especially if the trip is planned well in advance. In that case the sender can use “Notify me about a new flight” and come back when a suitable offer appears.
A notification does not guarantee that a traveler will appear or agree to carry the parcel. It simply helps you not miss newly published flights.
How to reduce risks when handing over a parcel
Before the handover, agree on what is in the parcel and its condition, the meeting place, the recipient’s contact and what to do if the flight is cancelled. For international trips, check customs requirements and possible charges separately.
JetJoin provides identity verification and in-app agreements, and payment is charged only after delivery is confirmed with a code. This should not be confused with insurance of the contents: the value of the items is not automatically insured.
