Send a parcel with an air passenger

Need to send a small parcel to another city or country and don’t want to wait for regular delivery? One option is to agree with someone who is already flying in that direction. On JetJoin travelers publish their flights and free luggage space, and senders offer to have a specific item delivered for an agreed reward. This format doesn’t suit every item: the passenger must know the contents in advance, check the restrictions and accept the request voluntarily.

How to find a passenger with a suitable flight

Start with the route: enter the departure city, destination and preferred date. Then browse travelers’ flights. On the card, look not only at the cities but also at departure and arrival times, available weight and luggage type — hand luggage or checked baggage. If there is no suitable flight yet, you can use new-flight notifications if this feature is available in the app. Don’t choose someone just because they fly earlier than others: check whether they can take your particular item.

How to agree on handing over the parcel

The sender describes the item, states its weight and approximate size and offers a reward. The traveler reviews the offer and decides whether the delivery suits them. If the terms need to change, the parties discuss them in the chat before confirming. For example, a passenger has posted a flight with 8 kg available, but the sender needs to send a 1.5 kg box. The price of that request is agreed separately; it doesn’t have to match the estimated value of all the free space. Agree on the meeting place before departure, the recipient’s contacts and the handover after arrival.

What can and can’t be sent by plane

The passenger is responsible for the things they take with them, so the contents can’t be hidden or described vaguely. Before agreeing, check the rules of the airline, airport security and customs in the departure and destination countries. Batteries, liquids, medicines, food, electronics and valuables may be subject to special conditions or bans. Don’t hand over a sealed unknown box asking to “just take it”. The traveler may refuse if the contents, documents or terms raise doubts.

How much does delivery with a passenger cost

JetJoin has no universal per-kilogram price for all routes: the cost depends on the route, date, weight, volume and the traveler’s offer. Say the sender offers 30,000 ₸ to have a small parcel carried. That is the agreed price of the traveler’s service; the platform fee for the sender is 15% and is shown separately before payment. Compare the total amount, not just the first offer. Extra costs for packaging, getting to the airport and customs charges should be agreed in advance if they arise.

How to make the handover clear for both sides

Before meeting, photograph the item and packaging and record the condition, the list of contents and the agreement. Tell the recipient the arrival date and the agreed meeting place. Don’t hand over things the traveler couldn’t inspect, and don’t ask anyone to bypass screening or declaration. If the flight changes, let the other party know as early as possible. JetJoin helps you find the right person and agree on delivery, but it does not replace the requirements of airlines and government authorities.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I send a parcel with any passenger?

No. You need someone who agrees to take the specific item, and the carriage itself must comply with the rules of the flight and the destination country.

Do I need to show what’s inside?

Yes. The passenger needs to know the contents and, if necessary, check documents and restrictions.

    Can I send documents?

Sometimes, yes — but first check what kind of documents they are, the route rules and whether the traveler is willing to take them.

What if there is no suitable flight?

Check nearby dates or use new-flight notifications if available.

    Who sets the delivery price?

The sender proposes an amount, and the traveler accepts it or discusses other terms; the total fees are visible before payment.
