Need to send a small parcel to family, friends or acquaintances in Russia? Standard delivery methods aren’t always convenient, especially when a specific arrival city and the chance to agree on the handover in person matter. JetJoin helps the sender find a traveler who is already about to fly in that direction and willing to consider carrying the item. It isn’t a postal service and doesn’t guarantee delivery by a specific hour: the passenger decides, and the parties agree on the terms in advance.

How to find a passenger flying to Russia

Start with the route: enter the departure city and the city in Russia where the item needs to go — for example Moscow, Saint Petersburg or another city with a suitable flight. Browse published trips and look at the departure date, arrival time and available luggage weight. If there is no suitable offer now, you can use new-flight notifications if this feature is available in the app. Don’t rely only on matching cities: clarify where exactly the passenger can take the item and where the recipient can collect it.

How the handover works on JetJoin

The traveler posts details of an upcoming flight and the available luggage allowance. The sender chooses a suitable flight and sends an offer: what needs to be carried, the approximate weight and the desired reward. The passenger reviews the request, asks questions and decides whether to agree. Once agreed, both sides record the details: the contents, packaging, meeting place and time, and the recipient’s contact. Hand over the item only after the passenger has confirmed they are ready to take this specific item. A published flight is not automatic consent to carry any parcel.

What can be sent to Russia by plane

Whether an item can be carried depends on more than its size. Its contents, airline restrictions, airport security rules and the requirements of the departure country and Russia all matter. Documents, clothes and some personal items may be considered for sending, but whether they are allowed must be checked for the specific route. Batteries, electronics, liquids, cosmetics, medicines, food and goods that may be restricted or need declaring require special attention. Don’t hide the contents or ask the passenger to carry a closed package they can’t check. The passenger must know what is in their luggage and may refuse.

    Price, timing and agreements

There is no single rate for all routes. The reward depends on the route, weight, dimensions, how convenient the meeting is and the specific traveler’s terms. The price is agreed for each request separately; an indicative price in a flight listing isn’t necessarily the price of your delivery. Timing also follows the passenger’s real schedule and possible flight changes. Before confirming, clarify whether there are extra costs, who brings the item to the airport and who collects it after arrival. See the payment and refund terms in the app and the Terms of Service.

How to prepare the item without unnecessary risk

Write a clear description of the item, state its real weight and dimensions and pack it neatly. For valuable items, discuss proof of value and what to do in a dispute in advance; don’t assume the item’s value is automatically insured. Agree on who the recipient is, the meeting point and a backup way to get in touch if the plane is delayed. If the route is international, find out in advance whether a declaration is needed and who is responsible for it. The main rule is openness: the passenger must be able to check the contents, and the sender and recipient must understand the agreed handover terms.

Why senders choose to look for a passenger

The advantage of this format is the chance to find someone already flying your route and discuss the details directly on the platform. Sometimes this is more convenient than a service with fixed forwarding stages. But the result depends on there being a suitable flight and the traveler’s consent. JetJoin helps the parties find each other and agree on an offer; carriage doesn’t become guaranteed just because the sender posted a request. To get started, find a flight to Russia, compare the options and send the passenger an offer with an honest description of the parcel.
