When the Astana — Oral route comes in handy
Astana is the capital, home to ministries, government agencies and the headquarters of many companies. Oral (Uralsk) is the centre of West Kazakhstan Region on the Ural River, near the border with Russia. The cities are roughly 1,390 km apart in a straight line: the overland trip takes a day or more, so sending a parcel with someone who is flying is the fastest option.
From Astana people often send documents issued by agencies in the capital, work papers from head offices, and gifts and things for family. In Oral parcels are awaited by staff of the region’s oil and gas projects, students and families.
