Why a fellow traveler works well for Turkey

Many Russians live in Turkey — in Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya and Izmir — and tourists fly there all year round. From home they receive documents, certificates, bank cards, prescription medicines, Russian books and food, and children’s things. There are many flights from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Yekaterinburg, so you can usually find a traveler within a few days.

JetJoin helps you choose a specific traveler and agree with them directly. The platform does not take parcels into a warehouse and is not a cargo service — it is an item in someone’s baggage, handed over in person.

Istanbul or Antalya: agree on the city in advance

Most trips go to Istanbul and the Mediterranean resorts. Istanbul has two major airports on different sides of the city, and travelling between them can take a couple of hours, so choose a meeting place based on where the traveler lands.

If the recipient lives in another city, look for a trip there or agree that they will come over. A tourist usually goes straight from the airport to the hotel — meeting at the airport or the hotel is usually most convenient.

What Turkish customs will let through

Turkey restricts certain foods, medicines, alcohol and tobacco. Send medicines in factory packaging and only in quantities for one person, with a prescription for prescription drugs. Better not to include sausage or dairy products: they may be refused.

If you are sending a phone for long-term use in Turkey, note that devices brought from abroad must be registered by IMEI to work with a Turkish SIM card — the recipient does this. Exports from Russia are subject to cash limits.

    How to prepare the parcel

Describe the contents and upload photos and videos of the items and packaging to JetJoin. Put bank cards and documents in an envelope and mention this in the description.

Don’t hand over closed boxes whose contents the traveler doesn’t know. Liquids in cabin baggage are limited to 100 ml, so large bottles will go only in checked baggage.

    Price and safety

You offer a reward, and the traveler agrees or names their own amount. On popular direct flights a small parcel usually costs little. JetJoin’s sender fee is 15%.

All users go through an identity check, and the app has reviews. The traveler photographs the parcel when taking it and enters the confirmation code when handing it to the recipient in Turkey — only then is the payment charged.
