Who receives parcels in the Emirates

A large Russian-speaking community lives and works in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and tourists and business travelers fly there all year. From Russia they receive documents, gifts, Russian books and food, children’s things and small items left at home. There are many direct flights from Moscow, Saint Petersburg and other cities, so finding a traveler is usually easy.

JetJoin connects the sender with someone already flying to the Emirates. The platform does not take parcels into a warehouse or calculate a rate: you discuss the terms with the traveler directly.

    The key rule: medicines

The UAE is very strict about medicines. Drugs containing codeine, strong painkillers and some sleeping pills and sedatives are controlled and may not be brought in without a permit — even if they are sold on prescription in Russia. The traveler is the one held responsible, so only send medicines after checking the list of permitted drugs.

Certain foods and goods that conflict with local law are also restricted in the Emirates. Documents, clothes, books and gifts usually pass without questions.

Meeting in Dubai and other emirates

Most travelers land in Dubai, some in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Distances between the emirates are short, but in rush hour the drive can take over an hour, so choose a meeting place near the traveler’s route.

Mind the heat: don’t leave chocolate, cosmetics or medicines in a car or outside for long, and in summer it is better to meet indoors — in a mall or a hotel lobby.

    How to prepare the parcel

Describe the contents and upload photos and videos of the items and packaging to JetJoin. Exports from Russia are subject to cash limits — don’t put money in the parcel.

Don’t hand over closed boxes or items whose composition the traveler doesn’t know. Liquids over 100 ml will go only in checked baggage.

    Price and payment

You offer a reward, and the traveler agrees or discusses another amount. JetJoin’s sender fee is 15%.

All users go through an identity check. The traveler photographs the parcel when taking it and enters the confirmation code when handing it to the recipient in the UAE — only then is your card charged.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I send medicines to the UAE?

Only after checking: many drugs sold freely in Russia are controlled in the UAE and require a permit.

    Can I send Russian food?

Factory-packed sweets, tea and cereals are usually fine. Don’t send pork or alcohol.

Where in the UAE can the parcel be received?

In the traveler’s arrival city — most often Dubai, sometimes Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

How long does a parcel take from Moscow to Dubai?

As long as the flight: about five hours. The recipient collects the parcel on arrival day.
