Need to send a small parcel to the USA, but standard international shipping doesn’t fit the timing or terms? One option is to find a passenger who is already planning a flight to the city you need and is willing to consider carrying a permitted item. JetJoin helps the sender and traveler find each other, discuss the details and agree on terms before the item is handed over.

This format is especially convenient when the recipient is in a specific city and the sender wants to know in advance who will carry the parcel and when the flight is. A passenger’s flight doesn’t cancel the rules of the airline, customs and US law: the contents must be disclosed honestly and whether they can be carried must be checked in advance.

How to find a passenger flying to the USA

Start with the route: enter the departure city and the destination. For example, you can look for a traveler flying to New York, Los Angeles, Miami or another US city. Not only the departure date matters, but also the actual route, possible transfers and the meeting place with the recipient.

On JetJoin travelers post details of upcoming flights and free luggage space. The sender chooses a suitable option and offers to have a specific item carried for an agreed reward. The traveler decides whether to accept the request. If the flight you need isn’t there yet, you can use notifications about a new matching route if this feature is available in the app.

How the handover to America works

First, the sender describes the contents: what exactly needs to be sent, how much it weighs, its dimensions and approximate value. Then the parties clarify the flight date, the handover point before departure and how the item will be collected in the USA. It is best to record all agreements in the app chat to avoid misunderstandings.

Before meeting, the traveler should inspect the item in person, make sure it matches the description and check whether it can be carried. Don’t hand over closed unknown packaging or ask the passenger to hide an item from inspection. The recipient is told the agreed meeting place in advance; on delivery the traveler confirms it in the app with the sender’s code.

What can be sent and what needs checking

Small personal items, documents or gifts are sometimes suitable for carrying in a passenger’s luggage, but there is no universal list of permitted items. Restrictions depend on the type of goods, the airline, the route and the requirements of US authorities. Be especially careful with food, medicines, cosmetics, batteries, electronics and goods intended for sale.

For example, having two free kilograms in a suitcase doesn’t mean any goods can go in them. Some items are banned, others need a declaration, special packaging or permits. If in doubt, check the requirements of the carrier, US customs and other competent authorities before paying and handing over.

Cost and timing of delivery with a passenger

The price isn’t a fixed JetJoin tariff for delivery to the USA. The sender offers a reward for a specific parcel, and the traveler assesses the weight, volume, convenience of the route and any extra actions. The total is agreed separately for each request; the platform fee for the sender is 15% and is shown before the deal is confirmed.

Timing also depends on the specific flight. A direct flight and a meeting agreed in advance can shorten the wait, but transfers, delays, screening and border requirements can change the plan. So don’t count on delivery within a strict number of hours without a confirmed route and handover terms.

    Why consider JetJoin

Instead of looking for a random contact in chats, the sender can rely on routes published by travelers. This makes it possible to discuss a specific flight, the item’s weight and the reward in one process. The traveler doesn’t become a courier service: they can decline a request if the contents, route or terms don’t suit them.

To get started, find a flight to the US city you need, prepare an accurate description of the item and send the traveler an offer. The clearer the information about the item and the meeting, the easier it is for both sides to make a considered decision.
